Posted 17 March - PM. Posted 23 March - PM. I joined this forum just to help you with this problem, which I also had today. Here's what Palm Support sent me -- it worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you: I would like to inform you that this issue is caused due to the corruption of some of the files of the palm desktop software. So let us go ahead and perform a clean uninstallation of the existing palm desktop software and reinstall it once again.

Double-click My Computer on the desktop and open the C: Drive. Open the Palm or Pilot folder. Right-click the User folder and select Copy. Note: The User folder is a truncated version of your User name. Minimize the current open windows.

Right-click an empty location of your Windows desktop and select Paste. Amazingly enough, I had a successful sync and the palm desktop contains all of my data. As I look over this full page of notes I do not see where I went wrong previously but I'm not going to spend the time to figure it out.

Let sleeping dogs lie? I'll have to try reverting the UAC and launching the apps normally and see if I get the same results. I'm still not sure what did the trick for me. I was successfully sync-ing with Outlook using a cable in the XP Virtual machine mode when I got a message that Outlook was not registered. Working with my company's product manager for Outlook has led to the impass that I can't use XP mode to access Outlook.

Do I need Outlook running to Hot Sync with it? Does anyone know if that is sufficient? Should I ask the people who make Pocket Mirror or just try? Didn't find what you were looking for?
